The Start of the Scholarship
The College KickStart Scholarship helps South Jersey students as they prepare to tackle the financial burden of pursuing their higher education.
This scholarship is open to students applying to college, trade school, a certification, academy, or other program to continue their education. As college graduates ourselves, we recognize the need in the South Jersey community to help first generation and low-income students as they prepare for higher education. Tuition, room and board, meal plans, and books can add up quickly, and we want to make it financially possible for students to pursue their future careers. Hence, the College KickStart Scholarship was born! |
Meet the Founders
Amy Phillips is a graduate from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, concentration in Journalism + New Media, and minor in Electronic Media + Film. Without the scholarships Amy obtained from her academics and competing in the Miss America Organization, attending a four-year university would not have been possible. She applied to 36 community scholarships, enrolled in 20+ credits per semester, and graduated a year early to cut down on costs.
Madison Saul received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stevenson University and is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership in Higher Education at William & Mary. She understands first-hand the struggle of finding affordable housing, food, and books as she works two jobs to meet her basic needs as a full-time graduate student. The scholarships she has received from the Miss America Organization have helped alleviate some of the financial stresses associated with pursuing higher education.
